Envu
Securing Public Health with Nature-Positive Innovation

Pest management professionals are the unsung heroes of public health. Amid talent shortages, fierce competition and soaring customer expectations, pest control companies don’t just have to get the job done quickly and effectively—they need to do it sustainably.

Envu is an environmental science company that champions these hidden saviors. Functioning as a value-added technology partner for pest management businesses, it designs and develops forward-thinking solutions to help them work efficiently while minimizing environmental impact.

As an environmental visionary, one of Envu’s core pillars is to deliver pest management solutions that balance the needs of humanity and nature. Its motto, “Be a Force with Nature” fuels the development of nature-positive innovation that controls dangerous and invasive species like insects and weeds that pose a threat to public health or harm native, beneficial vegetation. It creates smart, precise and effective solutions that address threats in a responsible way.

“Our goal is to help maintain public health and create healthy spaces for society by striking a balance with nature,” says Gilles Galliou, CEO.

Championing Sustainability and Innovation

Emerging in 2022 as a spin-off of a multinational life science organization with over a century of industry experience, Envu harnesses extensive environmental science expertise. Established as a dedicated, independent entity, the company is driven by the sole purpose of “advancing healthy environments for everyone, everywhere.”

It is the only private equity-owned company in this field, which enables it to direct all of its resources and fidelity to address specific markets within the pest control and environmental science sectors. That focus and capacity to invest enables Envu to anticipate and respond to needs more quickly than its larger competitors, who often view this space as more opportunistic than a core focus.

Envu advances the industry through innovation, scientific rigor and proactive engagement with market trends. Committed to “360-degree innovation,” the company prioritizes customer needs when developing solutions while preparing for future demands by continually evaluating pathways to innovation.

One of the company’s flagship products in this space, Temprid FX is a general pest control solution originally created in response to customer concerns about callbacks. The product is designed to reduce repeat visits and offers increased efficacy and long-lasting control of hard-to-kill pests through a scientifically proven formulation that leverages dual active ingredients.

Suspend PolyZone, also an insecticide, was similarly designed to provide longer-lasting protection. Its effects last up to 90 days because a polymer barrier protects the active ingredient even in tough weather conditions, minimizing the need for frequent reapplication and thus reducing environmental impact. It’s an industry favorite for mosquito management, but - due to its favorable profile - can also be used indoors in food-handling areas.

One of Envu’s most recent notable achievements is the TruDetx bedbug detector—a novel device that precisely determines the presence of bedbugs. This innovation was a game-changer in bedbug control, particularly for clients servicing hotels. It not only aided in pinpointing when and where to treat but also demonstrated to their patrons their commitment to employing state-of-the-art technology to ensure a hygienic environment.

The “Start with the Customer” Approach

Envu’s customer engagement approach focuses on forming partnerships around creating innovative solutions. Partnerships is another one of Envu’s fundamental pillars, and it continually strives to collaborate with other organizations to develop visionary ideas and innovative products.

A unique combination of scientific expertise, investment capacity and market focus enables the company to operate with speed and agility. It often stays ahead of industry trends and anticipates customer needs. A customer-centric approach to innovation begins with assessing the customer’s needs and challenges, driving the solution’s focus.

This process fuels the comprehensive, 360-degree innovation strategy, which extends beyond internal resources to include partnerships with scientific institutions, universities and innovative startups. Every solution is designed to be transparent and clear to regulatory authorities. Envu abides by regulatory requirements in the countries where it operates, ensuring the products are registered in the respective markets and rigorously tested before reaching consumers.

One of the issues pest control operators have to contend with is pesticide resistance. Envu works to account for resistance by exploring innovative product combinations to prolong the efficacy of pest control tools.

“In all cases, we are committed to being good stewards of our products and services,” says Galliou.

In addition to providing customers with advanced technology solutions, Envu works hand-in-hand with customers to provide comprehensive training and knowledge transfer sessions. At its research facility in Clayton, North Carolina, it offers customers up to 10 hands-on learning opportunities to promote the latest best practices for optimum results while ensuring the safe and proper use of its products.

Forward-Thinking Growth Initiatives

Envu was established with a clear focus on growth. It operates in eight environmental science market segments, has employees in 42 countries and seeks to broaden its global footprint. Current growth strategies encompass enhanced communication of its business offerings, increased investment in R&D and portfolio expansion through innovation. It aims to accelerate growth by strengthening customer relationships and streamlining engagement processes.

Just as partnerships are at the core of Envu’s operating philosophy, they also pave the way for new growth avenues. Over the coming months, it will continue cultivating collaborations with universities and other entities, leveraging collective expertise to develop cutting-edge solutions.

On this path, Envu remains dedicated to anticipating and shaping the industry’s future. Through ongoing market analysis and strategic planning, it seeks to proactively address emerging challenges and capitalize on evolving opportunities. This forward-thinking approach is evident in Envu’s product development initiatives, market positioning efforts and adherence to environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles.

Envu creates a safe and supportive workplace culture that celebrates and values diversity, recognizing the importance of fostering an environment where employees feel appreciated and respected. Two core principles are passion and inclusion. It values individuals who are deeply passionate about their work, harnessing their expertise with exceptional dedication and enthusiasm.

It emphasizes the importance of inclusion through its “one team, one dream” cultural trait, promoting collaboration and ensuring everyone’s voice is heard.

A frontrunner in the industry, Envu stands out as the premier partner for pest management businesses, devoted to safeguarding the delicate balance between society and nature through pioneering services and nature-positive innovations.
