Groupe Trifide
Mastering Geospatial Challenges, One Client at a Time

Over the years, Groupe Trifide has established itself as Canada’s premier geospatial services provider, consistently saying ‘yes’ to the most challenging and ambitious projects. Whether it’s navigating sub-zero conditions on a snowmobile to gather GNSS data or braving scorching summer heat to complete a drone mission, the company consistently demonstrates a commitment to getting the job done.

Under the leadership of Chantal Arguin, who became the first woman appointed president of the Ordre des arpenteurs-géomètres du Québec, the company has pushed the boundaries of innovation, adaptability, and client-centered service. As a result, Groupe Trifide has evolved into one of the largest geospatial data firms in Quebec, a reflection of its relentless pursuit of excellence in data acquisition, processing, and certification.

Arguin says, “The vision for Groupe Trifide has always been simple yet profound. The challenges of clients become our own challenges. This philosophy sets the foundation for every project we undertake.”

Quickly Adapting to New Technologies

Groupe Trifide’s core expertise lies in 3D data—acquisition, processing, and certification. However, the company has evolved far beyond the initial focus areas of photogrammetry, hydrography, and cartography. Since 2008, it has expanded its portfolio to include mobile mapping, with an impressive array of seven mobile mapping solutions available today. Not content to rest on their laurels, in 2023, Groupe Trifide added cutting-edge drone services to its offerings and became the first company in Canada to acquire the world’s first modular light detection and ranging (LiDAR) system.

A key factor behind Groupe Trifide’s success is its ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, requests, and challenges. The company doesn’t operate on rigid business hours or follow a fixed plan. Instead, it prides itself on ensuring the flexibility and versatility of the team. With a workforce of 150 professionals, including land surveyors and engineers, Groupe Trifide offers a full spectrum of 3D surveying services across Canada. The recent addition of engineers to the team has brought a new level of expertise and innovation to its already robust skill set. This multidisciplinary approach allows the company to seamlessly integrate different perspectives, driving innovation in every facet of its operations.

Creating Tailored Solutions

Groupe Trifide’s forward-thinking approach has yielded remarkable success stories. One notable project involved a client who required the digitization of an 800-kilometer stretch of land—in both directions—within just six weeks. The project was daunting, as eight terabytes of raw data, including 360-degree georeferenced images and LiDAR data, had to be collected, processed, and delivered within a tight timeframe. Despite the enormity of the task, Groupe Trifide’s team rose to the occasion, working around the clock to meet the client’s needs without sacrificing the quality of their other ongoing projects.

Groupe Trifide’s adaptability is not just confined to the field. The company has developed innovative tools like Trifide360, a platform designed to help clients manage their 3D data. In response to growing client demand for accessible, web-based solutions, they partnered with E-Cassini to offer GeoCassini, a platform that allows clients to access and manage their geospatial data from anywhere. By creating tailored solutions that address the specific needs of its clients, Groupe Trifide has consistently demonstrated the ability to innovate in ways that set it apart in the competitive geospatial market.

Central to its success is an acute focus on the clients’ needs, particularly within Quebec. By honing in on local requirements rather than chasing global trends, Groupe Trifide has been able to refine its solutions to meet the exacting standards of the market. Whether creating new workflows for more accurate data or developing platforms that provide clients with unlimited licenses for 3D data management, Groupe Trifide consistently adapts to meet the client’s evolving needs.

“We want to thank our partners, competitors, and employees. Their questions and the evolution of their needs in the 3D accuracy market drive us to improve continuously,” says Arguin. “We don’t sell a product; we sell our expertise one client at a time.”

As Groupe Trifide looks to the future, it remains committed to pushing boundaries, innovating solutions, and transforming geospatial challenges into opportunities for every client.
