Wilbanks Engineering & Environmental Solutions
Environmental Restoration Specialists

Wilbanks Engineering & Environmental Solutions is a turnkey design-build environmental consultancy specializing in restoring waterways and landscapes into balanced, self-sustaining systems. Led by Zachary Wilbanks, the firm has evolved from a consulting practice into a full-service provider, managing every stage of ecological restoration.

This evolution stemmed from years of field experience, where well-conceived designs often lost integrity once outside contractors executed them. By overseeing both design and implementation, Wilbanks maintains rigorous quality control, ensuring that what is engineered in planning performs reliably in the field.

“With a single team responsible for outcomes, clients experience faster decisions and consistent accountability throughout each project,” says Wilbanks, principal owner.

The firm’s focus extends to stream and wetland restoration, stream bank stabilization, and culvert and bridge replacements that enhance the passage of aquatic organisms. These projects help reduce erosion, reconnect fragmented habitats and strengthen the long-term resilience of natural waterways.

Drawing on expertise in environmental, civil, mining and ecological engineering, Wilbanks approaches each project with both technical precision and ecological awareness. Its engineers and environmental scientists are trained through specialized workshops and certifications, combining field-tested experience with disciplined execution to deliver lasting results.

Each assignment is delivered as a complete, start-to-finish solution that includes design, permitting, construction and post-restoration monitoring. The firm’s process is grounded in Natural Channel Design (NCD) principles and meets all requirements of the Clean Water Act’s Section 404. Every project is designed to restore natural form and function, allowing ecosystems to recover and sustain themselves over time.

Adaptive Execution Built on Experience

Wilbanks’ integrated delivery model ensures that the same professionals who design a project are also responsible for guiding it through construction. This continuity enables immediate, informed decision-making when conditions change in the field like stabilizing a bank after unexpected rainfall. Continuous involvement by the firm’s engineers and scientists ensures that ecological intent and design precision are fully preserved.

This adaptability and accountability have earned Wilbanks the trust of long-term partners such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and The Nature Conservancy, both of which continue to rely on the firm for new restoration initiatives. Its client base also includes private landowners, developers and conservation groups seeking reliable, affordable and environmentally responsible solutions.

Beyond restoration, the firm supports environmental assessments, permitting compliance and civil design for infrastructure and mining projects. Its knowledge of natural systems help clients efficiently meet both engineering and regulatory goals.

Partnerships Defined by Integrity and Accountability

Every engagement at Wilbanks is led by senior professionals who stay involved from concept to completion. Clients work directly with the people responsible for results, which keeps communication simple and decisions fast. The firm’s small team moves efficiently from planning through construction, maintaining alignment between technical standards and client goals.

Working with Wilbanks feels genuine and collaborative. The team is accessible and quick to respond, taking time to understand each client’s priorities and adapt as projects evolve. That openness builds confidence and turns many first-time projects into long-term partnerships.

Integrity defines how the firm operates. Its professionals provide honest, well-considered advice, even when that means recommending against additional work, prioritizing client outcomes and environmental responsibility.

Partnering with Wilbanks Engineering & Environmental Solutions means collaborating with individuals who view restoration as both a technical and an ethical commitment. Each project unites engineering precision with ecological care to create results that endure in both performance and purpose.
